Protect your vision through regular eye exams.

Did you know that most group benefits will cover the cost of an eye exam for you and your family, as well as, a percentage of any prescription eye glasses?

August is National Eye Exam Month and healthy vision starts with an eye exam. For most of us we often overlook having our eyes checked until we are having trouble seeing printed words, while our children might not recognize that they are having difficulty seeing. You can help protect your family’s vision by having a regular eye exam. It’s a good idea to have your children’s eyes checked before they start the school year.

Regular eye exams are a great way to determine if you need glasses or contact lenses, as well as, help to detect eye-related diseases and health conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. The Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends adults receive an eye exam every two years. Infants should have their first exam between six and nine months, while school-aged children and those over 65 should have one annually.

If you currently have a benefits plan through work, contact your employer’s group administrator to find out more about vision coverage. If you do not have a group benefits plan and would like more information about group benefits and vision coverage, give us a call at (902) 446-3900, we’ll help get you started.
